Enterprise AI consulting and modernization, delivered by a team that stays.
Skyview Labs is the enterprise AI consulting and modernization practice that organizations hire when they are done with PowerPoint pilots and want production systems running on modern foundations. Founded in 2025 by senior engineers and AI practitioners — a practice of Spectrum Virtual, an IT services organization operating since 2013.
Why we exist
AI only works if the systems underneath are modern.
Most AI consulting starts with the AI. We start with the systems and data underneath. The reason is simple: AI deployed on top of fragmented data, brittle legacy applications, and missing integrations produces brittle results that do not survive contact with real workloads. The operators who hire us have been burned by that pattern — and have decided they want a partner who fixes the foundation before layering AI on top.
The market that exists today serves two ends. At one end, Big Four firms sell AI transformation as a multi-year, multi-million-dollar program with steering committees and slide decks. At the other end, a thousand boutique AI consultancies build demos on public APIs and walk away. Neither end serves the mid-market and enterprise organization that needs real AI capability, delivered in a reasonable time, on systems that already mostly work — with a partner who is accountable for keeping it running.
That is the gap Skyview Labs was built to fill. We modernize what is broken, integrate what is fragmented, embed AI directly into the workflows that run the business, and operate the result long after launch. We are a senior team of engineers and AI practitioners, backed by 12+ years of production operations through our parent practice, Spectrum Virtual.
What we believe
AI only works if the systems underneath are modern.
Most AI projects do not fail because the models were not good enough. They fail because the legacy applications, fragmented data, and missing integrations underneath could not support production AI. We modernize and integrate before we automate.
Real AI lives inside real workflows.
Bolt-on AI sits outside the work. The AI that earns its keep is embedded in the systems your team already uses — Salesforce, Dynamics, Epic, M365, custom line-of-business applications — grounded in your real data, integrated with your real operations.
Built for real environments, not demos.
Every system we ship is architected for production from day one — capacity, latency, monitoring, security, model updates, rollback. The team that built it operates it after launch. No build-and-walk-away.
Honesty about architecture builds trust.
We use self-hosted open-weight models for most workloads, frontier APIs for specific high-value tasks, and traditional code wherever AI is not the right answer. We document which is which and why. Clients who understand the architecture trust the system.
The structure
Skyview Labs is the enterprise AI consulting and modernization practice of Spectrum Virtual — a Cheshire, CT-headquartered IT services organization that has been running production systems for businesses, regulated operations, and public-sector clients since 2013. Skyview Labs is a DBA of Spectrum Virtual.
We spun the AI practice out under its own brand because the AI consulting market needed firms that could actually modernize, integrate, secure, and operate the systems AI runs on — not just build demos on top of public APIs. Most AI consulting firms have an application layer and rent everything else. We built the firm the other way around: established infrastructure and operations first, focused AI and modernization practice on top.
The structural answer to "what happens if Skyview disappears in 18 months" is simple: Spectrum Virtual does not disappear. It has been operating since 2013, runs multi-datacenter infrastructure, is a Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider (CSP), and is the legal entity behind every Skyview engagement. We are transparent about this because procurement teams should — and do — ask. Meet the team →
The team
The Skyview Labs AI engineering team is small on purpose. Two senior practitioners — Darren Reeves (founder of both Skyview Labs and Spectrum Virtual) and Keith Ouellette (engineering lead) — handle architecture, build, deployment, and ongoing engineering on every engagement. Concentrated expertise. No junior hand-off. No offshore drift.
They are backed by the Spectrum Virtual NOC, security operations, helpdesk, and Microsoft license-management team — the people who have been running production environments for our existing client base since 2013. When you sign a Skyview engagement, you get a focused AI practice in front and an established IT services operation behind it.
If you want to know who specifically would be working on your engagement, we'll tell you — on the first call, before a contract is signed. No bait-and-switch from the senior team you pitched to a junior team who does the actual work. That's the whole point of hiring a focused firm. See the full team →
The infrastructure
Skyview Labs operates from two Tier III TierPoint colocation facilities and an on-premises server room at the Spectrum Virtual headquarters in Cheshire, CT:
Marlborough, Massachusetts (MRL-01). Tier III TierPoint colocation. Production workloads with formal compliance requirements (HIPAA, SOC 2, PCI DSS, ISO 27001) run here.
Chicago, Illinois (CHI-01). Second Tier III TierPoint footprint. Provides geographic redundancy and capacity headroom.
Cheshire, Connecticut (CT-01). The Spectrum Virtual headquarters server room — co-located with the team, with real on-site generators and redundant connectivity. Used for development environments, staging, internal tooling, and capacity. Workloads with formal compliance requirements run in the colocation footprints.
The colocation footprints are connected by private fiber. Capacity is sized to the active engagement load and expanded as we take on new work — provisioned to actual clients rather than sitting in a shared pool. The infrastructure is operated by the same Spectrum Virtual team that has run production for our broader IT services client base for over a decade. See the full architecture →
The name
// Skyview — the perspective we work from.
// Long memory, clear sight, no theatrics.
// We picked the name because we liked that it wasn't trying to be clever.
